The Restless is set in fantasy world for souls that have passed away long before they are reincarnated. This epic film combines various elements/genres like romance, fantasy, sword plays, martial arts and the never-ending fight between good and evil. Synopsis
The life of the famous kisaeng (female entertainer), Hwang Jin Yi, who lived in 16th century Korea.
Follows Hwang Jin-yi, a beautiful, talented and intelligent young woman who was able to read and write well.
However, because she was an illegitimate child, she had no other recourse but to become a kisaeng
where she used her position to gain favor with the noble classes.
Yu-jeong, a suicidal young woman, is introduced to a man on death row named Yun-soo by her aunt, Sister Monica. Raised by an abusive father, Yun-soo has led a hard life. It got even harder when he was left in an orphanage with his younger brother after his father’s suicide and his mother’s abandonment. Growing up in the gutter, he became involved in a violent crime, for which he was convicted of three counts of murder. Yu-jeong, on the other hand, comes from a rich family. However, her childhood was marred by traumatic neglect, which has led to her self-destructive impulses. These two wounded souls slowly open their hearts and find the motivation to live on in each other’s compassion. Yu-jeong realizes how spoiled her life has been compared to Yun-soo’s, and embraces his guilt that would otherwise never be forgiven.

Jin-Tae shines shoes hoping to save money to send his younger brother Jin-Seok to university. Their mother runs a noodle shop wishing the best for her two sons even though things have been tough since her husband has passed away. Sending Jin-Seok to university has become the shining light in their family’s everyday lives.
With the start of the Korean War (June 25, 1950), Sin-Seok is unwillingly conscripted into the war, which forces Jin-Tae to join the war to save his brother and send him back to his mother. Without money or influence, the only hope to save his brother is for Jin-Tae to enlist in suicidal missions in order to earn the Medal of Honor, which will guaranteed Jin-Seok realises the truth of his brothers sacrifice.
Jin-Seok fails to understand his brother’s actions and misinterprets them as a dangerous mix of patriotism and an obsession with fame and glory. It is only at the fatal end that Jin-Seok realises the truth of his brother’s sacrifice.
Park Yi (Jung Woo-sung) is a hit-man who found a soft spot for painter Hye-young (played by the pretty Jeon Ji-hyun). It’s love at first sight in the meadows of daisies, where her clumsiness caught his attention. However, being shy and ever mindful of the dangers of his professional career, he can only admire her from afar, do little (or perhaps big) things for her in an anonymous fashion, but the one that takes the cake is sending her potted daisies everyday without fail at 4:15pm. He becomes her guardian angel from afar, shielding her and keeping her safe from harm.
Hye-young is in love with this mysterious stranger. She is constantly waiting for him to appear, but I really wonder how difficult could that be given the almost punctual daisy delivery. Nonetheless, she’s terribly moved, and touched by this sole act. However, as the stars would have it, interpol detective Jeong Woo (Lee Sung-jae) chances upon Hye-young at a town square during one of his undercover missions, and he too is captivated by her. In a similar fashion, because of his profession, he is doubtful if he should make the first move.

Gyeon-woo is a single Korean college student, still not very sure of what he wants to become in the future. One night, on his way back home, he meets an extremely beautiful girl, but who is also completely drunk. As the relation progresses, Gyeon-woo begins to discover how crazy the girls really is, with all her wacky behaviors, angry attitude and always wanting him to please her the way she wants, even if it mean that Gyeon-woo will pass for a complete idiot in public places or gets beaten by the girl. But even if Gyeon-woo suffer, physically and mentally, he really thinks that this beautiful girl will have some sorrow in her and he really wants to help her to get better. But at what price?

Bad tempered police officer Kyung Jin (Jun Ji Hyeon) has zero tolerance for crime. When she spots a guy running down the street holding a purse and an old lady giving chase, Kyung Jin runs him down and beats the living tar out of him.
